Annie Hopewell (@adgeeek) describes herself as a ridiculously passionate student of creative advertising currently attending Seneca College. For her, advertising isn’t just a career but a lifestyle. And she loves life. Spending her summer as an intern at Blast Radius in Amsterdam, we can’t blame her. The details in life that people ignore are what inspire this creative mind most, as she believes that creativity is the instinct to produce. In this edition of BuzzShare, Annie shares with us some insights she has gained to the industry this summer. Check out the rest of the post below (and connect with her on Twitter!):

Below is the full piece from Annie’s blog (Gathering Thoughts).

Dale Herigstad, Jan Leth, Lee Feldman and Stefan Kniess

Today I had the privilege of meeting with some brilliant creative minds. Minds that specifically speak the digital language and have tons of experience within the ad industry. These are some of the most interesting people in the industry right now, especially from the perspective of a student who is learning about the digital world.

Listening to these guys discuss the digital submissions for the WPPED CREAM Awards was inspirational to say the least. The WPPED CREAM Awards give all the agencies within the WPP group the opportunity to be recognized for outstanding work. These guys are all leaders and have phenomenal ideas about the capabilities of digital.

I asked what kind of ADvice they could give to someone trying to enter the business.

Dale responded with – “Rich media. Understanding that movement is important. Also understanding the game theory or gamfication is important as the world becomes more connected.

Lee let me know that concepting is an important part of a digital agency. “Don’t worry about fitting into the traditional creative team titles of Copywriter & Art Director. You can be creative in a whole new way thanks to new types of agencies.

Stefan offered words of wisdom about working hard and finding your role. “Experiencing different roles within an agency is the only way to find what you really love to do.”

Jan had one of my favourtie responses “Do what you love. Not what you think you should be doing.”

A special thanks to Lee for taking me under his wing this summer. I truly appreciate all the ADvice.
